Seeds refer to seeds of melon andfruits, and are of many varieties including sunflower seeds, clams, snake gourdseeds, watermelon seeds, pumpkin seeds, cucumber seeds and luffa seeds.Currently, seeds for snacks are mainly sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds andwatermelon seeds.
Seeds are nutritious
Fromthe ancient times, everyone, from Emperor to common civilians, “loved” eatingseeds. Except for entertainment, nutrition in seeds is rich. Take sunflowerseed as example. It contains unsaturated fatty acid, and necessary linoleicacid content for human body reaches 50%~60%. Except unsaturated fatty acid,sunflower seed also contain multiple necessary nutritional ingredients forhuman body including vitamins, Fe, K and Zn (see the table). It is obvious thatalthough seeds are mall, they are nutritious.
TheChinese Diet Guidelines (2016)suggests that nuts intake of residents per week shall be 50-70g (nuts meat),equaling to 20-25g unshelled sunflower seeds every day, about a handful and ahalf.
