The work arrangement for food safety standards in 2014 set by National Health and Family Planning Commission is as follows:

Following the requirements of building the most tight food safety supervision system which is under the Decision on Major Issues Concerning Comprehensively Deepening Reforms adopted at the Third Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee, our commission will implement the 12th Five Year Plan of National Standards for Food Safety in 2014. We will prioritize the following work.

Firstly, we will organize integration work of National Standards for Food Safety on the basis of cleaning work of food standards. By the end of 2014, we will have completed over 50% of the integration work and by the end of 2015, we will have completed the integration work concerning food safety, basically resolving the existing problems of standards crossover, repetition and contradiction; meanwhile, we will accelerate the formulation and revision of food safety standards concerning such major areas and varieties as plant oil, bee honey, drinking water and food and form national standards system for food safety that is consistent with national conditions and consistent with the frame, principle and main content of international food law.

Secondly, we will fully implement the guiding opinions on strengthening work of standards for food safety, guide local governments to formulate local standards for food safety and record work of enterprises, carry out publicity and tracing of the standardization work, and improve the inquiry and consultancy service so as to facilitate the public to refer to the standards.
Thirdly, we will strengthen the ability building and basic study of standardization work. We will organize and implement crisis supervision plan of national food safety and consumption survey of the total national diet and food, and build and perfect the crisis evaluation database for national food safety so as to accumulate scientific data for the formulation and revision of food safety standards; we will also strengthen the crisis evaluation of food safety and raise the scientific nature of food safety standards.
