On Jan. 26, 2013, the national videophone meeting for import and export food safety supervision and management is held in Beijing. Wu Qinghai, the Deputy Director General of General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China (AQSIQ), required in his speech that the entire system shall see clearly the safety situations, further deepen the reform, and ceaselessly perfect the import and export food safety supervision system with Chinese characteristics. Qian Jin, the Director General of Import & Export Food Safety Bureau of AQSIQ gave the work report.

Wu sufficiently affirmed a series of achievements obtained by the safety supervision of food import and export in 2013. He showed that the system shall see clearly the severe safety situations, and further enhance the responsibilities and urgency of import and export food safety. Therefore, we should deeply know the complexity of import and export food risks, and watch out all the time; we should deeply know the earnest expectation of people for the safety of imported food, and take full responsibilities; we should deeply know that only deepening the reform can further guarantee the safety of import and export foods. 

    Wu emphasized that the system shall further deepen reform and ceaselessly perfect the safety supervision system of import and export foods with Chinese characteristics. The entire system shall take the responsibility of food safety in local government, urge the market entity to implement the safety liabilities, implement port supervision responsibilities, work hard to master interaction and further enhance basic capacity construction, strengthen the system linkage and cooperation, and bring the overall effect of the system into full play.
