The current cultivated area of walnuts has reached 1,624,000 mu in Aksu Prefecture, with fruit-bearing area of 1,176,000 mu, total output of 141,800 tons, and gross output value of RMB 3,129,000,000 by the end of 2013. In 2013, per capita net income of farmers in Aksu Prefecture is RMB 9,657, with RMB 1,216 from walnut sales, accounted for 9.9% of farmers’ net income. The walnut income in some counties accounted for nearly 30% of farmers’ net income, making walnut industry the No.1 pillar industry as well as a “green bank” to help increase farmers’ wealth in Aksu Prefecture.
