The Draft Amendment of Food Safety Law was submitted to the 9^th Meeting of the 12^th NPC Standing Committee for deliberation, proposing to implement stern punishment to local governments and supervision departments for dereliction of duty and targeting at negative act of supervision departments.

The Draft Amendment makes clear legal liabilities and punishment regulations corresponding to each duty and stipulates that the person who shoulders main responsibility shall resign to assume the responsibility in case that food safety accidents occurring in the administrative region thereof cause adverse effects or losses due to failure to organize and coordinate timely relevant departments for effective disposal or that particularly major food safety accidents occur or major food accidents occur consecutively in the administrative region thereof.
