The Research on Development Status and Trend of Snack Food with Chinese Tradition Features and Fewer Categories (2014) showed that from 2004 to 2014, the net growth of output value of the snack food industry in China reached 711,880 million yuan with an average compound annual growth rate of 16.70%.

The research report also estimated that: from 2015 to 2019, Chinese snack food industry would keep high growth rate which would basically exceed 17%. It is estimated that the output value of Chinese snack food in 2015 would reach 1,058,962 million yuan; in 2019, this figure would reach 1,992,528 million yuan; and the output value of snack food with fewer categories would increase from 471,975 million yuan to 1,047,298 million yuan.
