According to the statistics from Manzhouli customs, 4858 tons of pine nuts (including pine nut kernels) were imported through Manzhouli Port, which was 121.1 times higher than that of the same period in 2013, with a value of CNY 150 million which was 57.4 times higher than that of the same period in 2013.
The pine nuts imported through Manzhouli Port were mainly from Russia and Kazakhstan. However, since December 2012, the pine nuts imported through Manzhouli Port were basically turned off, and only 20 tons were imported in certain months. Since June 2014, this port resumed the import of pine nuts, and in October and November, the import volume boosted. In November, the import volume reached 2899 tons.
The analyzers in Manzhouli Port indicated that the boost of pine nut import was influenced by the harvest of pine nut, as well as the devaluation of ruble. The yield rule of pine nuts is “a bumper year every 5 years and a relative bumper year every 3 years”, so the import and process is correspondingly periodic. Since the year of 2014 was a bumper year of pine nuts, which made the price low, and the ruble devalued, the profit margin enlarged consequently; the trade of pine nuts revived; and the import of pine nuts realized recovery growth.
