Nut Industry in Yunnan Province Is Ready to Come By 2020 Planted Macadamia Nuts in the Province will Reach 4 Million mus

25 years ago, macadamia seeds came to Yunnan from Australia. Yunnan boasts unique natural resources unable to be copied and compared by other provinces. The good light quality of plateau at low latitudes, plus the relatively large temperature difference between day and night, provides a superior growth environment for macadamia nuts, which also endows it with good quality far better that that of the origin.


It is reported that, as of 2014, macadamia planting area in Yunnan province has reached 1.1 million mus, accounting for more than 98% of the nation’s total. Yunnan provincial government plans to plant 4 million mus of macadamia nuts in the province by 2020. Then, “Yunan nut”, will become another specially advantageous industry rich in Yunnan plateau characteristics and with influence and right to speak in the world after “Yunan tobacco”, “Yunan flower”.
