The walnut planting area in Yunnan Province reaches 41 million mu, and lists top in China. Walnut industrial technology innovation strategic alliance was established in 9th in Yunnan to break through the technological difficulties in industry development, with the purpose to integrate industry-university-research –innovation resources and facilitate the quality improvement and efficiency enhancement.

According to the estimation by Forestry Department of Yunnan Province, the walnut planting area in Yunnan Province reached 41 million mu by the end of 2014, the walnut yield in the province in 2014 reached 770 thousand ton, with the output value amount to RMB 23.9 billion. Yunnan is leading the country in walnut planting area, yield as well as output value; walnut has become the economic trees in Yunnan Province with largest planting area, widest planting scope and most benefits to people.
