AQSIQ will improve the whole process of imported food supervision system

On June 15, the 2015 national food safety publicity Week and in the seventh session of China Food Safety Forum was opened in Beijing, AQSIQ import and export food safety bureau, Lin Wei attended the forum and pointed out that the General Administration of quality supervision, inspection and Quarantine will implement the new "food safety law",  establish and improve the food import overseas food safety management system, consummate relevant supporting system, perfect the whole process supervision system of imported food, ensuring the safety of imported food.


Data show that in recent years, China imported food agricultural trade continued rapid growth, from $27.98 billion in 2004 to $2014 in 121.48 billion, in 10 years, it has increased by 3.3 times, imported food has become an important source of people’ food on the table.


Lin Wei also reported the imported food quality and safety of the relevant circumstances, from January to may in 2015. China’s entry-exit inspection and quarantine institutions strictly implemented inspection and quarantine supervision on imported food from 179 countries or regions and found substandard import food 927 batches, 4142 tons, 12.75 million US dollars. Unqualified import food involves 79 countries or regions, substandard food imports almost involved in all kinds of food, which mainly include: drinks, cakes and cookies, sugar, grain and products, wine, aquatic products, dairy products, spices, dry nuts and other kinds. AQSIQ promptly notify the relevant countries or regions of the competent authorities, to take measures to ensure that the transmission of Chinese food must meet China's national food safety standards.


"Reasons for the cause of substandard imported food is complicated, such as over the limit of the food additives ultra limited use, microbial contamination, pollution etc. safety and health issues more prominent, accounted for 46% of the total batch of imported food unqualified." Lin Wei said that for the detection of substandard food, entry and exit inspection and quarantine agencies are in accordance with the relevant provisions of the return or destruction of treatment, they can not enter the domestic market.
