A batch of Cashew Nut in Shell Imported from Benin is Destroyed in Tianjin Port

In the recent, employees of Xingang branch of Tianjin Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau discovered that part of cashew nuts have mildewed seriously when inspecting a batch of imported cashew nut in shell and have destroyed them according to laws.


When conducting site inspection, inspection and quarantine workers have discovered that surfaces of part of cashew nuts have white mildewing layer and even have blackened and started to decay. Inspection and quarantine personnel have sealed these goods and timely notified the owner of goods for confirmation, guided the owner of goods to contact relevant organizations to authenticate goods damages and claims, monitored and selected for this batch of cashew buts according to laws and destroyed about 1.5 tons of cashew nuts that have been mildewed.


It is reported that this batch of imported cashew nuts are imported from Benin with about 393 tons in total. After imported to China, it will be processed to cashew kernel through cooking, peeling, baking and sterilization. As it is so hot in the summer, long-time sea transport for cargos in addition to high moisture content of goods have caused part of this batch of cashew nuts to be mildewed.
