The food safety
supervision system is a system participated in and cooperated jointly by many
departments as decided by extensive links involved by food safety. On Oct. 1,
the known “strictest ever” new Food
Safety Law will be implemented.
The guiding
opinions of the State Council on local reform and improvement of food and drug
supervision and management system clearly pointed out that the provincial,
municipal and county level food and drug supervision and management organ
reform should be completed respectively by the first half year, end of
September and end of 2013 in principle.
The weakness and
dead zone of supervision brought about by delayed food safety supervision
reform and the “transition period” of reform should be eliminated by accelerating
reform pace, shortening reform transition period and tightening supervision
responsibility during transition period.
The “strictest ever” new Food Safety Law will be implemented soon. However, the implementation of strictest standards for food safety not only lies in food manufacturers’ and operators’ abiding by laws, producing and operating in good faith, but also lies in perfect supervision of supervision department, cleaning dead zone of food safety and eradicating loopholes of food safety. The supervision departments must change the current situation that local food safety supervision system reform is still being selected, promote completion of food safety supervision reform, provide organizational guarantee for smooth implementation of the “strictest ever” new Food Safety Law, and enable the “strictest supervision” to implement to the front line of food safety as soon as possible.
