AQSIQ Released Quality Safety Situations of China Imported Foods in the First Half Year of 2015

In the first half year of 2015, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) further perfected imported food safety supervision system, further tightened supervision on imported food inspection and quarantine, greatly implemented responsibility of food manufacturers and operators, actively promoted international joint control of food safety, and effectively guaranteed imported food safety. In the first half year, there is no serious issue regarding imported foods. In the first half year, totally 1225 batches, 4960ton, USD 14.52 Million nonconforming imported foods from 57 countries or regions have been returned or destroyed, respectively reducing 12.3%, 31.8% and increasing 67.6%, in which, beverage, pastry biscuits and crackers, cereal grain and products are the main nonconforming food varieties; the main reasons are unqualified food additives, microorganism pollution, and nonconforming quality, etc.


AQSIQ released the Quality Safety Situations of China Imported Foods in the First Half Year of 2015 (White Paper) on the World Health Day (April 7) this year, which caused extensive attention from all sectors of the society. The issuance of Quality Safety Situations of China Imported Foods in the First Half Year of 2015 (White Paper) will better lead the entire society to know overall situations of imported food, establish a information sharing platform between government, enterprises and consumers, and provide reference for imported food supervision work of each level of inspection and supervision department. Meanwhile, it provides basic data support for quality safety management and development strategies for food industry in China.
