Totally 4960 Ton nonconforming products, including beverage,
biscuit and dairy products are investigated in the first half year
In the first half year, China imported USD 22.23 Billion foods,
increasing 4.2 times during the past ten years with average annual growth rate
of 17.6%. On July 30, it is learned from AQSIQ that in the first half year,
there is no serious issue regarding imported foods. In the first half year,
totally 1225 batches, 4960ton, USD 14.52 Million nonconforming imported foods
from 57 countries or regions have been returned or destroyed, respectively
reducing 12.3%, 31.8% and increasing 67.6%.
Imported foods increased 21% in the first half year
The report shows the
imported food quantity in China increased rapidly. In the first half year of
2015, the nationwide exit-entry inspection and quarantine institutions totally
inspected 552,000 batches of imported goods (cargo batches, similarly
hereinafter), 20.352 million ton, and USD 22.23 Billion, respectively
increasing 11.9%, 21.2% and reducing 10.8% year on year. It means the price of
imported foods in the first half year dropped 10%, and more foods with good
quality and low price entered China.
Nonconforming foods nearly involve all varieties
In the first half year,
almost all varieties of imported foods are detected nonconforming to national
standards for food safety and laws and regulations in China. The exit-entry
inspection and quarantine departments in each place detected imported foods
from 57 countries or regions nonconforming to national standards for food
safety and laws and regulations in China. The top ten nonconforming imported
foods batches are respectively beverage, pastry biscuits and crackers, cereal
grain and products, sugar, other processed foods, aquatic products, wine, dairy
products, spices, and nuts, accounting for 90.1% of total nonconforming
imported food batches.
