The new food safety law regulates that food manufacturers and operators shall establish food safety traceability system according to the law to guarantee the traceability of foods. China encourages food manufacturers and operators to adopt information methods to collect and retain production and operation information, and establish food safety traceability system. The Food and Drug Administrative Departments of the State Council will jointly with Agricultural Administrative Departments to establish whole-journey food safety traceability coordination mechanism.
   

The food traceability system is critical for multiple links such as plantation, cultivation, production, circulation as well as marketing and catering services. A qualified traceability system can include the entire production and operation process of food into valid monitoring so as to effectively dispose nonconforming foods, and guarantee food quality safety.
