How New Food Safety Law Tightens?

Through twice deliberations in the 9th Session and the 12th Session of the 12th NPC Standing Committee, and three times of draft modification, the “strictest ever” Food Safety Law of the People’s Republic of China has been issued and will be implemented from Oct. 1, 2015.

 

The new Food Safety Law targets at establishing scientific and strict supervision and management system. Compared with the former version, it has obvious changes in four aspects. the first is to implement the strictest whole process management for links of food production, sales, catering service and edible agricultural products; the second is to establish the strictest supervision and punishment system, and meanwhile aggravate accountability of local government person in charge and supervisors; the third is to complete risk monitoring, assessment and food safety standards; the fourth is to establish award-report and liability insurance system, play supervisory functions of consumers, industrial association and media, and form pattern of society collegiate governance.
