The new Food Safety Law has been implemented from October 1, 2015. This “strictest ever” new law with 50 new articles and over 70% revision not only shows the “four-strictest” proposed by President Xi Jinping, but also matches with the requirements of governance by heavy punishment. As the “umbrella” for food safety of the civilian, the new food safety law receives much concern.

1. Production operator is the first responsible person of food safety

The greatest highlight of the new law is to clearly regulate that food production operator is the first responsible person of food safety, and takes full charge of responsibility for safety of food it produces and operates.

2. Food production operators are forbidden to touch five high-tension lines

The new food safety law is known as the “strictest”. It sets the “illegal red line” for food safety, and sufficiently shows requirements of governance by heavy punishment.

3. New food safety law becomes the “umbrella” for food safety of consumers

The new food safety law strengthens consumer right protection from multiple aspects, sets new systems, and revises regulations on infant food, health care products and transgenic food to respond to focus of attention.
