According
to disclosed information, China may be planning to expand the peanut planting
areas to reduce the dependency of the domestic squeezing enterprises on the
imported soybeans. Huo Jianguo, the president of China Chamber of Commerce of
Foodstuffs and Native Produce, expressed, “the related departments are
researching the feasibility of expanding the planting and processing capacities
of peanuts to replace transgenic
soybeans.”
