Xi Jinping, the General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of China and Chairman of Central Military Commission made important instructions on food safety work the other day, and emphasized that food safety is a project for people’s livelihood and public interests, and the responsibility of each level of party committees and governments. In recent years, relevant departments have done a lot of work and gained positive achievements. Currently, the food safety situations in China are still severe. People earnestly expect more reliable and healthier food. The year 2016 is the first year of the “13th five-year” plan. We should firmly establish people-oriented development ideas, insist on Party and government joint responsibility, resolve the current problems and eliminate the root causes, strengthen overall coordination, accelerate perfecting uniform and authorized supervision system and mechanism, implement requirements of the “four-strictest”, and actually guarantee food safety of people.
