The hickory nuts reserve in Huinan are abundant, and wild hickory distribution area reaches over 500km2. The wild hickory nuts output quantity is over 30000t. Currently, there are over 20 enterprises engaging in wild hickory nuts plantation, production and processing in the entire province. Main products are hickory oil, hickory kernel and hickory artwork, which are sold to foreign countries with annual value of 150 Million Yuan. 　　

Currently, Huinan County has set up the “Changbai Mountains Wild Hickory Conservation Area” to announce to protect wild hickory resources in Changbai Mountain. Huinan County cooperates with Tonghua Normal College to set up “China Wild Hickory Research Institute” and study hickory variety cultivation, production and processing. The Hickory Oil Processing Park is constructed, with annual output of hickory oil over 10000t. Two hickory breeding bases are built, and cultivate over 200,000 hickory seedlings every year. The artificial selection of wild hickory has started, and the county strives to develop artificial hickory to over 100000mu.
