It is known from food safety week held by National Health and Family
Planning Commission today, China has sorted out and integrated over 5000 food
standards in seven years and finally established existing food safety standard
system; totally audited and revised 1293 standards and released 1223 national
standards on food safety. At present, various national standards on food safety
have been perfected in China, and four types of national standards on food
safety including general standards, product standards, production and operation
norms and standards, and inspection method standards have come into being.
Those standards on food safety generally contain eight aspects including regulations on limit of invasive organism, pesticide residue, veterinary drug residue, bio-toxin, and heavy metal in food, food additive and food products; varieties, scope of application and dosage regulation of food additives; sanitary requirement during food production process; food inspection method and regulations with regard to food safety.
