The second China Nuts Health Week was launched officially today. When many industries slow down their growth and even tend to declination, the nut and roasted seeds industry still keeps a high growth. It is known that in recent decade, the nuts and roasted seeds industry in China keeps a growth rate of 15% approximately every year. 

Snack food is a very fantasy market, and nuts are the absolute star products. Weng Yangyang disclosed a group of data: in 2005, the sales income of nuts and roasted seeds industry is only CNY12 Billion in 2005; by 2016, the main operating income has increased to CNY132.7 Billion. “The nuts and roasted seeds industry grows better than any other food industry. Among snack foods, nuts and roasted seeds industry ranks the first for consecutive years. Currently, in snack food market, the market share of nuts and roasted seeds is about 32~35%”, said Weng.

On current day, the report of “The Age of Nuts in Retail Revolution” released by JD Supermarket shows nuts and roasted seeds currently are the varieties of snack foods with the fast growth in JD Supermarket. The sales volume in 2016 grew nearly 150% than that in 2015. Big data shows 60% consumers for nuts selected medium and high-end products. The high-end nuts are the future consumption trend. People born in 1980s are main consumers of nuts and roasted seeds, while the people born in 1990s contribute the most to growth of nuts and roasted seeds. 

On site of the event, many brands including Yaoshengji, Be& Cheery, California Field, and BESTORE launched everyday nuts, one bag a day, containing various nuts and dry fruits.

It is reported that Yaoshengji, which main product is pecan, develops the “Pecan+” mixed nuts bag. The bag mainly contains pecans, mixed with other nuts and dry fruits. There are totally seven different tastes, one bag a day for the entire one week. Be& Cheery launches new products of everyday nuts with novel design. The small bag also divides dry fruits and nuts. Person in charge said in that way products with different water content will not affect each other’ tastes. Moreover, the eight types of mixed products provide more abundant nutrition.

Why everyday nuts are so popular? Analysts said growth of nuts and roasted seeds is the representation of lipstick effect. In economic downturn, a lipstick can make up itself although it is not expensive, and comfort consumers. Similarly, the single consumption of small-bag everyday nuts is little, and consumption amount is easy accepted by consumers. In each stage, one can eat one bag when wanting some snack food. The nuts are not only snack foods but also nutrients.
