On November 22, 2017, the office of Tariff Commission of the State Council issued the notice as regard to the 2017 tariff adjustment scheme. According to the notice, the import tariff of partial consumer goods will be lowered by way of provisional tariff since December 1, 2017. Of which, about 10 types of nuts and dried fruits are involved. This is also another important tariff adjustment after the added-value tax rate of agricultural products was reduced officially in July 1 of this year.

Judging from the tariff rate adjustment table, the tariff rate of partial nuts including the fresh or dry unshelled/shelled Brazil nuts, fresh or dry unshelled/shelled cashew nuts and pecan will be lowered to 7%; the tariff rate of unshelled/shelled macadamia nuts will be lowered sharply from the provisional 19% formerly to 12%. However, the adjustment list does not include badam and pistachio nut this time. At present, the tariff rate of Badam is still 10% while the tariff rate of pistachio nut is 5%.
