On the 24 of this month,on a Achievement certification meeting of Whole genome sequence decoding of peanut cultivating species held by FujianUniversity Of Agriculture and Forestry, the research has decoded the Genomes of peanut cultivation, and its achievement are equal to the International leading level.

According to Professor Zhuang Weijian, the head of the project group, said that, the team has studied for more than a decade, working with a few peanut scientists such as Wuhan Future Group Biotechnology Co., Ltd, Shandong, Guangxi, Henan, Guangdong and China Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Taiwan's Chenggong University to tackle this world problem, the data and results of the research were published to the world through the official website of the Fujian Agriculture And Forestry University(http://peanutgr.fafu.edu.cn). This will make the whole genome selection breeding and precision breeding possible, which will greatly improve the efficiency of Peanut Genetic Improvement and shorten the breeding cycle, and help to cultivate more high yield, high quality, disease resistantand safe new varieties.

Expert group believed that, the completion of whole genome sequencing of peanut cultivation species having a significance in the foundation and application of peanut. It is helpful to clarify the origin and evolution of peanut, and to analyze the molecular mechanism of key characters such as yield, quality, resistance and so on.It also provides a strong scientific and technological support for the promotion of new breakthroughs in peanut breeding.
