Recently, our reporter visited a planting base of Yifangcaomu Company located in Najing Village, Sanjia Town of Yangchun and was impressed by the vibrant scene of its newly planted macadamia nut trees. According to the man responsible for the planting base, Najing Village of Sanjia Town has planted by now more than 600 mu (1 mu =0.0667 hectares) of macadamia nut trees, including the varieties of SSCRI-3, SSCRI-2 and A16. These trees are expected bear fruits in autumn of 2019. During the high-yield period, the output value per mu is expected to be more than 6,000 yuan. If each family plants 10 mu of macadamia nut trees, they will each have an annual revenue of more than 50,000 yuan 4 to 5 years later, which shows a bright future in macadamia nut tree planting. According to head of the Agriculture Department, more than 10 towns including Sanjia Town, Helang Town and Songbai Town have planted macadamia nut trees currently with a total area of more than 10,000 mu including 5002 mu in 2016 and 5558 mu in 2017, which presents the tendency of increase year by year. At present, the local planting mode is mainly of “Companies + Cooperatives + Farmers”, which is suitable for farmers and is a good way for them to shake off poverty and set out on a road to prosperity.
