Zhang Zhiqiang, deputy director of National Health and Health Committee, food safety standards and monitoring and evaluation division said that, up to now, China has formulated 1224 national standards for food safety, involving nearly 20 thousand items of food safety and nutrition indicators, which basically cover the daily consumption of food varieties.
Food safety standards are the bottom line of food safety, and also a guarantee for people to 'eat at ease'.At the International Conference on food safety and health held in 2018, Zhang Zhiqiang said that the National Health and Health Commission has set up and perfected the national standard system of food safety to meet the requirements of health protection in China around the establishment of 'the most rigorous standards”. He pointed out that the construction of this system in China has been praised as a model of developing countries by the Codex Alimentarius Commission and the relevant institutions and experts in Europe and American.
Risk monitoring and risk assessment play a scientific role in establishing and improving food safety standards system.It is understood that the National Health and Health Commission has set up food pollution monitoring points in 2808 counties of all provinces, and will monitor all the provinces, cities and 98% county administrative regions.The monitoring varieties include 29 major categories, such as grain, oil, fruit and vegetable, infant food and so on, and 259 items of monitoring projects, including cultivation, grain storage, production and processing, sales and catering services, import and export and other links.
