Report in Scientific Evidence for
Relationship Between Nuts and Health shows less than 1/5 grownups in China
eat nuts, and nut intake volume of nuts consumers is about lower than 40g/day.
The average nuts intake of grownups in China is only 7g/day, mainly seeds nuts
such as sunflower seeds and peanuts; the consumption in tree nuts such as
walnuts and almonds is low.
Thus, the researcher of this report, Wang Zhihong, Deputy Director of
Public Nutrition Office, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention,
suggested that a handful of nuts every day is benefit for health. Although the
nuts are nutritious, one shall not eat too much.
Wang said based on analysis of nutritional components, the fat content of nuts may reach over 40%, protein content is 12%-36% mostly, while carbohydrate content is below 15%; meanwhile, the minerals, Vitamin E and Vitamin B are rich. The fat content in nuts is high but saturated fatty acid is only accounting for 10%-15%, mostly unsaturated fatty acid, linoleic acid and linolenic acid which are essential fatty acid of human body. Moreover, nuts also contain functional components of phospholipid, polyphenols and flavones.
