Morphological Characteristics and Distribution Scope of Pecans

Pecan trees are deciduous trees about 20~25m high, at most 55m. The bark is lobed, and buds and sprouts are pubescent.

Pecans are of pinnately compound leaves, including 11~17 small brachypodous leaves, which have glandular hair or pubescence when young and hairless later.

Pecans are long oval dry nuts, and originally produced in America and North area of Mexico in the North America Continent. Now, it is one of the worldwide dry nut trees, and the nuts are of good diet health care value. 

Pecans are rich in Australia and North American countries, and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in China also plants pecan trees.

Zhejiang Province starts planting some pecan trees, and the nuts are nutritious and delicious. Thus, pecan nuts are rare tasty dry fruits.

Pecan trees are heliophilous species, and live warm and humid weather. The applicable scope for soil acidity and alkalinity is large. The trees may grow well in slightly acid or alkali soil, but intolerant for drought and barrenness. The trees are applicable to area of river and lake catchment.
