Due to abundant return in recent years, walnut is one of the most agricultural crops in Chile. Report released by USDA the latest shows in 2019 the walnut growing area in Chile has reached 45,000ha. (675,000mu), and the number is growing continuously with 1500ha. (22,500mu) every year. Meanwhile, the report predicts that the Chile walnut output is expected to reach 150,000t (unshelled) in 2019; while in 2020, although the yield situations will be affected by adverse weather, the predicted yield will still increase 3.3% on year-on-year basis, about 155,000t since more new orchards are put into production successively.

As limited by domestic consumption, about 98% of total yield of walnuts in Chile are released to overseas market. Turkey is still the largest overseas market in Chile. In 2018, Chile totally exported walnuts of 23,900t to Turkey, accounting for 19.7% of total export volume in that year, followed by Germany and Italy respectively accounting for 14.5% and 8.5%.
