Report on Snack Food Industry Development under Consumption Upgrading released
by the Ministry of Commerce, as consumption upgrading speeds up and emerging
retail channels rise rapidly, the snack food industry develops rapidly featured
in “fast, extensive, various, changing”. It will become the most promising and
most vigorous industry in the fast-moving consumer goods market. Report shows
in the ten years from 2006 to 2016, the gross output of snack food industry is
increased from RMB 424.036 billion to RMB 2.21564 trillion, increasing 422.51%.
By 2020, the total industrial scale of the industry is expected to approach RMB3
trillion. As propelled by the internet, the snack food e-commerce also starts
rapid growth.
