Macadamia nuts were introduced to China in the 1970s.
Only Yunnan and Guangxi are suitable for planting, among them, Yingjiang in
Dehong, Yunnan Province is the most suitable planting
land. The planting area is of 110,000 mu, accounting for 58% of the national
planting area, which is the largest macadamia nut planting base in Asia.
Local farmers in Yingjiang call macadamia nuts
"golden fruit". Driven by leading local macadamia development
enterprises, farmers have developed great interest in this emerging forest
fruit and has become an industry for local farmers to increase their income and
become rich.
