Recently, the General Office of China National Intellectual Property Administration released the Notice on Confirming Guiding Directory of the First Batch Geographical Indication Application and Promoting Key Connection, and totally 160 geographical indications are listed. Six geographical indication products of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region including “Wuyuan Sunflower” are listed in the directory.

Wuyuan County is a well-known sunflower growing counties in China, and the largest county of sunflower seed industry. The county has built the first sunflower technology institute and the largest sunflower seeds market in China. The edible sunflower seeds independently developed account for 1/3 of the national market. The “Wuyuan Sunflower” passed trademark registration of national geological indication, and was listed to one hundred agricultural product brands directory of China. One of seven grains of edible sunflower seeds is from Wuyuan County. The county is awarded as China Sunflower Seeds Industry Demonstration Base, becomes national sunflower seed gathering, distribution and pricing center, and formed a sunflower full-industry chain integrating seed R&D, base growing, precise and deep processing, marketing and tourism.
