Wuyuan County in Inner Mongolia has a century-long history of sunflower cultivation. Out of the 2.3 million mu of arable land in the county, more than 1 million mu are used for sunflower cultivation annually. This results in a total annual output of over 520 million kilograms and an annual output value of 4.8 billion yuan. Therefore, Wuyuan is known as the "hometown of sunflowers."

From seed research and development to base planting, deep processing, marketing, foreign trade exports, online transactions, and tourism, Wuyuan County has created a sunflower-based industrial cluster, which has significantly enhanced the standardization, quality, and efficiency of sunflower production. In 2024, Wuyuan County will also host the World Sunflower Conference, during which Wuyuan will showcase the charm of Gujun to the world.
