On March 28, 2024, the Apricot Kernel Alliance, in collaboration with Hebei Agricultural University and the Zhangjiakou Comprehensive Experimental Extension Station, organized a training and guidance event on apricot tree frost protection techniques in Xixianzi Village, Yu County, Zhangjiakou.

For a long time, the challenge of protecting apricot trees from frost has been a significant barrier impeding the stable growth of the apricot kernel industry. The frequent occurrence of "eight frosts in ten years" not only leads to significant fluctuations in the supply of apricot kernels, causing economic losses to farmers, but also hampers the long-term sustainable development of the apricot kernel industry. To tackle this challenge, the Apricot Kernel Alliance invited experts in the field to provide thorough and in-depth training and guidance for local farmers and cooperatives.

After the training session, experts, leaders, and business representatives gathered to participate in a forum on the development of the dried fruit industry and apricot kernel industry in Hebei Province, as well as the apricot kernel industry in Yu County. During the forum, participants openly discussed the current development status of the apricot industry in Zhangjiakou and Yu County, advanced technological achievements in apricot kernel research, sales conditions of apricot kernel products nationwide, and the position of apricot kernels in the nut industry. In his concluding remarks, Deputy County Mayor Yang Jianzhang expressed firm confidence and high expectations for the future development of the apricot kernel industry in Yu County. He made it clear that the county government will fully support the development of the apricot kernel industry, further consolidating and expanding Yu County's status as the "Home of Chinese Apricot Kernels."
