On October 12, the reporter learned from Chengdu Yimin that 280 tons of sesame seeds imported directly from Mozambique in Africa arrived at Qingdao Port successfully. This is the first time for African sesame to enter Chengdu market through overseas direct procurement channel after 2024 China-Africa Cooperation Forum.
Mozambique is an important “Belt and Road” country in southeast Africa, and its unique climate conditions make it an ideal place for high-quality sesame planting. Mozambique sesame seeds in the new season are full of particles, pure flavor and high oil content, which is an important raw material for the production of sesame oil and specialty cakes. With the improvement of domestic consumption demand, the current gap between supply and demand of domestic sesame is expanding year by year, which provides more opportunities for African high-quality sesame to enter the domestic consumer market. Through the establishment of overseas direct sourcing channels, to ensure product quality, reduce trade links, for local enterprises and consumers in Chengdu to bring more cost-effective product supply.
