Sesame imports in April fell in volume and price

  According to the General Administration of Customs data, in April 2025 China's sesame imports of 143,500 tons, compared with the previous month slipped 10.09%, compared with last year's growth of 5.59% in 2020 for the same period since the second highest point, second only to the 144,300 tons in April 2021. 2025 China's cumulative imports of sesame in January-April 505,400 tons, 2020 is the highest point since the same period. Because sesame imports are at a high level in the same period, port stocks are also at a relatively high level in history. As of May 19, port inventory was 301,000 tons, up 31.89% from last year, the highest point in the same period of the last decade.

  From the average price of imports, China's average price of sesame imports in April 2025 was $1,422.31 per ton, down 1.58% from the previous month, down 16.76% year-on-year last year. spot prices in ports also showed a downward trend in April, and the trend of the average price of imports in April is consistent.
