The Government of Burma Officially Announced that the Cultivated Area of this Crop Must Be Expanded

The Ministry of Agriculture Animal Husbandry and Irrigation of Myanmar announced that in order to produce more sunflower seeds and oil, 1.5 million acres of cultivated area of sunflower will be expanded this year.

An official from Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation (Myanmar) expressed that peanut, sesame, sunflower, soybean and other oil-producing crops are planted in Myanmar, but the peanut oil and sesame oil are the most widely consumed in China. Therefore, to meet the short-term supply of domestic edible oil, from next season, the cultivated area of sunflower with the largest oil output per acre will be expanded.

As understood, the cultivated area of peanut in Myanmar is over 2.8 million acres, the cultivated area of sesame is over 3.7 million acres and the cultivated area of sunflower is approximately 600,000 acres. Including above-mentioned cultivated area of oil-producing crops, Myanmar has planted more than 7.6 million oil-producing crops per acre.
