Pistachios are mainly produced in the United States, Iran, Turkey, Syria and the European Union.

In 2021 / 2022, the total global output of pistachios was 0.829 million tons, a decrease of 16%. Iran's output was 0.135 million tons, with a decrease of 29%; Turkey's output was 0.087 million tons, with a decrease of 65%; The output of the United States was 0.523 million tons, an increase of 10%.

II. Import and export

(I) Export

The world's largest exporters of pistachios are the United States, Iran and Turkey. Last year, affected by the decline in global production, exports as a whole fell by 10%. However, the decline mainly refers to the exports of Iran and Turkey, as their production has decreased. Due to the increase in output last year, exports to the United States also increased by about 23%.

(II)Import

China is the world's largest importer of pistachios. From 2021 to 2022, China imported 0.14 million tons, a decrease of 10% over the previous year; Followed by the EU, which imported 0.135 million tons of pistachios last year, an increase of 10% over the previous year, and the import volume increased year by year; India is the third largest importer of pistachios, with 0.03 million tons imported last year, down from the previous year.
