Affected
by the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, there has been a large-scale
shortage of sunflower oil in France. French officials issued a temporary
alternative to sunflower oil in food on the 26th local time, temporarily
authorizing food manufacturers to use other types of edible oil to replace
sunflower oil without changing their food packaging immediately.
A
number of French media have reported that the global production and export of
sunflower oil has decreased significantly due to the recent conflict between
Russia and Ukraine. Ukraine previously provided nearly half of the global
production of sunflower oil, but since the outbreak of the war, its ports have
been blocked and road and railway transportation has been greatly disturbed.
Russia, another major sunflower oil exporter, raised the export tax of
sunflower oil by 20% and implemented a quota system for the supply of sunflower
oil abroad.
