According to a recent report by the Bolivia’s Association Of Producers Of Oil And Wheat (Anapo), the export volume of sunflower seeds in Bolivia in 2021 exceeded 136 million US dollars, ranking fourth among the non-traditional export products in the country, second only to soybeans, jewelry and chestnuts.

Bolivia's "Seven Pages" reported that the report also said that among the Bolivian sunflower seeds exported to the world, they mainly went to Ecuador (57%) and Colombia (22%).

Globally, Bolivia ranks 13^th in sunflower seed production. Data show that from 2016 to 2021, Bolivia's sunflower seed production increased by about 142000 tons.

In addition, San Julián is the largest sunflower seed production area in Bolivia.
