According to the report in July, the European Commission slashed the crop forecast of corn, wheat and sunflower seeds in the European Union because the hot and dry weather affected crop growth.

The EU corn production in 2022 is expected to be 65.8 million tons, lower than the 71.7 million tons predicted at the end of June and lower than the 72.7 million tons of 2021,

This reflects the expected decline in production in Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia. At the critical stage of corn growth this summer, the heat wave weather intensified the damage of drought to crops.

According to the data of the European Commission, the import volume of EU corn in 2022 / 23 MY will reach 16.5 million tons, an increase of 1.5 million tons over the previous month, which is consistent with the import volume in 2021 / 22 MY.
