Output of Cashew in Cote D'Ivoire Exceeded the Million-ton Mar

At the press conference held on February 3, Adjoumani, Minister of State, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Côte d'Ivoire, announced that the output of cashew  in Cote d'Ivoire reached 1.028 million tons in 2022, 6% higher than 998,700 tons in 2021. Since 2014, the annual output of cashew has doubled, making it the second largest agricultural product after cacao. In 2023, cashews were priced at 315 FCFAs/kg, an increase of 10 FCFAs per kg compared with the previous year. In addition, due to the strong demand in the international market, the average purchase price of cashews reached 353 FCFAs/kg previous year, and cashew farmers benefited 363 billion FCFAs therefrom, an increase of 7% over 2021. In 2022, 27 cashew processing plants in Keke processed 224,000t of cashews, making Keke the third largest cashew processing country in the world after India and Vietnam. This year, the output of cashew is expected to be 1.05 million tons, and the local processing will be 300,000t. The supply of raw materials and the improvement of competitiveness of local factories are the key points to improve the local processing of cashews this year.
