Dmitry Reyko, the Director of the Russian Institute of Agricultural Market Research (IKAR), has stated that Russia has the potential to become the world leader in sunflower seed oil exports for the upcoming export season. This season, starting on September 1, 2022, Russia will become the world's largest exporter of sunflower seed oil for the first time in its history," said Reiko.

The production and consumption regions of sunflower seed oil are relatively dispersed. Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and Argentina are the main producers of sunflower seed oil, while the main consumers of sunflower seed oil are EU countries, Russia, India, Ukraine, China, and other regions. In 2022, Ukraine and Russia collectively produced 51.04% of the world's sunflower seed oil, with Ukraine contributing 20.91% and Russia contributing 30.13%. Russia has become the world's largest producer of sunflower seed oil.
