Côte d'Ivoire ranks first in the world in terms of cashew production and export volume, but its processed cashew exports only rank third, trailing behind Vietnam and India.
The Côte d'Ivoire government is committed to transforming the cashew industry into a demonstration of economic transformation, continuously creating social wealth, and improving people's living conditions. Over the past decade, the cashew industry has made significant progress in production and processing capacity. The industry has seen an increase from 400,000 tons in 2011 to 1,028,172 tons in 2022, which is a 6% increase compared to 2021. Additionally, the local processing rate of cashew has increased from 9% in 2018 to 21.25% in 2022.
Cashew processing factories have been established in many parts of the country. The cashew industry currently accommodates nearly 400,000 producers and is the third-largest export-earning industry in the agricultural sector, after cocoa and natural rubber.
