The 2022 market report released by the Australian Macadamia Society reveals that sales of Australian Macadamias have remained stable due to the continuous increase in new products using Magnolia as a raw material. China has surpassed the United States as the second-largest export market, with an import volume of 1281 tons.
The association predicts that the global production of macadamias (with a water content of 3.5%) will increase from 241,420 tons in 2021 to 300,213 tons in the current year. Compared to last year, all countries of origin except Hawaii reported an increase in production. South Africa and China had the largest growth rates. According to statistics from the Macadamias South Africa (SAMAC), the production of macadamia nuts with a water content of 3.5% in South Africa in 2022 was 70,139 tons, which is higher than the 53,320 tons produced in 2021. The yield of Hawaiian fruit shells in China, with a water content of 3.5%, is 62,500 tons.
