On May 3rd, Eurostat reported that the total trade volume of EU agricultural products reached 424.7 billion euros in 2022, representing a year-on-year increase of 22.32%. Among them, the value of exports was 229.1 billion euros, representing a year-on-year increase of 16.24%. The import volume reached 195.6 billion euros, representing a year-on-year increase of 32.91%. The trade surplus decreased by 28.36% year-on-year to 33.5 billion euros. From 2002 to 2022, agricultural trade within the EU has tripled, rising from 141.5 billion euros to 424.7 billion euros, with an average annual growth rate of almost 5.6%. During this period, the rate of export growth (5.9%) exceeded that of import growth (5.4%).
