Raphael Godlove Ahenu is the national coordinator of the Cashew Watch Ghana, a civil society platform that comprises non-governmental organizations, cashew farmers, the media, and local cashew industry processors. He predicts that the global cashew market value will reach US $10.5 billion by 2031.
According to him, the global market size for cashew is approximately $7 billion at the moment. However, he expressed concern that despite Ghana's estimated untapped potential of over $660 million, the country's cashew exports only generated about $340.7 million in 2020.
During the launch of the "Expanding the Voice of Cashew Farmers" project, implemented by Cashew Watch Ghana organization, Mr. Ahenu delivered a speech in Sampa, Jaman North, Bono region. He pointed out that the cashew industry has the potential to transform Ghana's economy in the medium to long term.
