On July 14, 2023, the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry issued import requirements for frozen chestnuts, which will be implemented from the date of issuance. The main content is as follows:
No import license from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry is required.
Chestnuts must be properly shelled, peeled, frozen, and packaged.
The freezing statement, packing list, supplier statement, exporter statement, export certificate, commercial invoice, or manufacturer statement must include the following information: details of the processing done before freezing (such as boiling, blanching, or peeling); evidence that the goods have been frozen at -18 ℃ or below (starting from the core temperature of the goods reaching -18 ℃) for a minimum of 7 consecutive days.
Each batch of goods must be packaged in clean, new packaging.
The goods must be clean and free from contaminated seeds, soil, animal and plant debris, and other materials that pose a biosafety risk before arriving in Australian territory.
