Iran exported approximately 16,000 metric tons (mt) of varioustypes of pistachios, valued at $110 million, to 44 countries during the firstfive months of the Iranian calendar year. Russia accounted for 23% of the totalexports. Rouhollah Latifi, a high-ranking official from the CentralOrganization for Rural Cooperatives (CORC) in Iran, revealed on Monday that theexport of Iran's renowned delicacy witnessed a 6% increase in weight butexperienced a 1% decline in value from March 21 to August 22, compared to thesame period last year. Latifi stated that Russia was the leading destinationfor exports, purchasing 3,733 mt of pistachios valued at approximately $25million during the first five months of the calendar year. Germany rankedsecond with a purchase worth $11.2 million, followed closely by the United ArabEmirates at $11 million, Kyrgyzstan at $8.5 million, and China at $7.5 million.
