Foreign media reports: Tanzania's goal is to export processed cashews by 2026/27, rather than shipping unprocessed cashews abroad. Approximately 1575.5 acres of land have been reserved in the Nanyamba district of the Twara region for the construction of a cashew processing industry cluster, with the aim of operating from fiscal year 2023/24.


In the fiscal year 2022/23, Tanzania's export revenue of cashew was $226.9 million. Ensure that over 300000 tons of raw cashew are processed locally, including the processing of cashew shells Tanzania is one of the largest cashew producing countries in Africa, with cashew exports accounting for 10-15% of the country's foreign exchange revenue.


According to data from the Cashewnut Board of Tanzania (CBT), the production of raw cashew has increased from 210,786.804 tons in 2020/2021 to 240,158.752 tons in 2021/2022, an increase of 14%. Recently, the Tanzanian government has been planning to construct local cashew processing facilities in order to fulfill its goal of ensuring that all exported cashews are processed by 2026/2027.
